I was just diagnosed with MAC. I start my drug treatments on Monday, 12/28. 3 drugs, 3 times a week. It took 13 months for the doctors to diagnosis me with MAC. Strangely, the only symptom I had was coughing up blood back in Nov. 08. I had a VATS biopsy which yielded nothing. I ended up having 6 ct-scans and 7 to 8 chest x-rays. A Bronchoscopy on 11/16/09 collected enough stuff to grow something. My cultures were sent to the National Jewish Hospital in Denver. I'm now seeing an Infectious Disease Doctor for my treatments. I'm afraid of the side effects. I may need some support from this group. I'm going to keep positive and hope for the best. I'm 57 years old, female, and have a small frame.
