Re:inhailed antibiotics - 2010/01/17 21:42 The airways is just a catch all phrase for all of the brochial tubes. These tubes (airways) are formed from tissue, just as your blood vessels are formed from tissue or any of the other tubes in your body. It is this lung tissue that gets infected with MAC. The tissue is fed by a network of blood vesels and capilaries. When you inhale the antibiotics they are only reaching the surface layer of cells that form the tubes rather than all of the cells that form the tube. It's better than nothing but not as good as ingesting the antibiotics...at least that is my take on this.
