Deanna S. York is a registered nurse of 25 years whose professional experience comprises a varied nursing career. Her educational background includes graduation from Hinds Community College in Jackson, Mississippi in 1981 with an Associate Degree in Nursing, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Mississippi College, Clinton, MS. She graduated from MC Magna Cum Laude in 1985. She is currently a certified nurse case manager and has been attending Texas Woman’s University at the Houston Texas Medical Center Campus for the purpose of obtaining a Master of Science in Nursing Education. Ms.York is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society. Ms. York is currently licensed to practice nursing by the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners and is a member of the Texas Nurses’ Association.

The first half of Ms. York’s nursing career was spent in neonatal and pediatric medical/surgical nursing. The latter portion of her career consisted of psychiatric, geriatric, home health, and case management employment opportunities. Ms. York’s publications include ‘A Descriptive Study of Senior Nursing Student’s Attitudes Regarding the Importance of Nursing Job Attributes’. She also taught community education for parents with newborns, siblings, breastfeeding classes, and health education courses for high school students. Ms. York is currently involved as a volunteer research assistant at the University of Texas Health ScienceCenter at Tyler.
